The Story Behind Kidli
Kidli was born in Melbourne during the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020. Like many parents at the time, I was looking for better ways to discover family-friendly places, activities and experiences. With so much information scattered across different websites and social media, I saw an opportunity to create something simpler.
The idea was straightforward: build a platform where parents could easily discover, share and recommend great things to do with their kids. From playgrounds and parks to cafés, restaurants, events and activities, Kidli was designed to bring everything together in one place.
What started as an idea during lockdown quickly developed into a fully designed app prototype. Over the years, Kidli has continued to evolve, with the original concept being revisited, refined and developed into the app it is today. While the technology and design have progressed considerably, the original vision remains the same: making it easier for families to discover what's around them and spend more time enjoying it.
A Little About Me
I'm Damian Dunne, a designer, visual effects artist and editor with over 15 years of experience working across film, television and advertising.
I'm also the founder and Creative Director of Milked Studios, an independent, artist-driven post-production studio specialising in visual effects, motion design, editing and creative finishing.
My career has been built around combining creativity with technology, solving visual problems and bringing ideas to life on screen. Kidli is a natural extension of that background, bringing together my passion for design, technology and creating something genuinely useful.
What began as a lockdown project in 2020 has grown into something much more personal — a platform I've continued to shape and develop, with the same goal I had from day one: helping families find great things to do together.
